- So far, over 200 million, 96 lakh workers have registered on the E-Shram portal. More than 3 million registrations were made in a single day yesterday.
- In August last year, the central government launched an e-labor portal for the economic empowerment of unorganized sector workers.
- The government has started work to connect about 380 million workers across the country through this portal. So that data of workers working in unorganized sector can be prepared and they can be linked with government schemes.
- E-Shram card is issued to the worker who registers on the e-Shram portal, with the help of which the worker can avail various social security schemes anywhere, anytime in the country.
- During the Corona period, the government provided financial assistance to workers registered on the e-labor portal.
- The Uttar Pradesh government is announcing maintenance allowance in the accounts of workers holding e-labor cards.
- Money is being deposited in the workers’ account every month at the rate of Rs.500 per month.
What facilities are available?
- Under E-Shram scheme, workers are also provided accident insurance up to Rs 2 lakh.
- The government is also preparing to provide pension benefits to future beneficiaries through the E-Shram Card scheme.
- People will also be given financial assistance in treatment through e-labor card. Pregnant women will be paid to support their children.
- The house will be funded by the government.
- The government will also provide financial assistance for the child’s education.
- Through this scheme the benefits of Central and State Government schemes will be transferred directly to the account.
When will the benefit be received?
- If the worker registered on the portal becomes the victim of an accident, an amount of Rs. 2 lakhs will be given in case of death or complete disability.
- If the worker is severely handicapped, he will be entitled to one lakh rupees under this insurance scheme.
Who can register?
- The E-labor card is only for unorganized sector workers.
- Any worker who is a local worker, self-employed worker or salaried worker in the unorganized sector and is not a member of ESIC or EPFO is called unorganized worker.
- Unorganized sector workers include construction workers, migrant workers, street vendors and local workers.
- The unorganized sector consists of organizations engaged in the production and sale of goods and services. These organizations employ less than 10 workers. These organizations do not provide facilities like ESIC and EPFO to the workers working here.
- In the case of farmers, the e-labor portal has clarified that only farm laborers and landless farmers are eligible to register on the E-Shram portal.
- Farmers owning their own land are not covered under this scheme. Any worker in the age group of 16 to 59 years can register on the e-labor portal.

- Keep in mind that this registration is completely free. No fee is charged for registration.
What documents will be required?
- For registration on the required e-labor portal, the worker has to enter information like name, occupation, address, educational qualification, skills, Aadhaar card, bank account number and mobile number.
- For registration you enter the Aadhaar number and immediately all the information of the worker from the database will automatically appear on the portal.
- 12 digit Universal Account Number E-Shram Card will have 12 digit Universal Account Number i.e. UAN.
- This card will be valid everywhere in the country. The UAN number will be a permanent number, meaning it cannot be changed once provided. E-labor card is valid for life.
